2001 - Cameron's Buck
This is the buck that started it all. For many of us in the grandchildren generation this was the first "big" buck we'd seen taken on the farm. The evening before this deer was shot, Lowell and Wade were driving by the farm after dark and had seen a "huge" buck run across the road from the east side and onto our property. Little did we know the following morning that buck would be strapped to Pete's roof!
Carmeron was sitting in his blind off of the west line fence, he'd been told to stay there even after the morning still hunt was finished becuase the rest of the party was planning to drive the woods and cameron's stand was as good a spot as any for the drive.
As the drivers were walking up to the south edge of the woods to begin the drive there was a shot in the middle of the woods. We didn't think much of it because we always hear shots and it is hard to tell where exactly they originated.
However as Pete was finishing the drive, he saw some blood and asked cameron if he'd shot, Cameron replied "yes, saw some white on its head but not sure how big it was". After a few steps further pete found the buck and replied "Cameron, you might want to come look at this!".
